Amy Denty
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning
Wayne County Schools, GA
Amy enjoys working with all of the K-12 educators in her community as they work together to promote student growth and achievement every day. In her heart of hearts, Amy is a teacher. She was the 2000 Georgia Teacher of the Year and has been certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards since 2001. Amy has served as president of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), which is Georgia’s largest education association, serving more than 90,000 members.
Most recently, Amy has led her district in the implementation of LETRS professional learning for more than 100 educators. This initiative has sparked a revolution in reading instruction in the district, which will lead to great opportunities for students and teachers.
Amy is married to Eric Denty and has two sons, RED and Sam. When she isn’t working, Amy enjoys spending time with family along the Georgia coast and can usually be found with a good book.
